First Grade is OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Today was a BLAST! Space Station Day was super fun, and I hope your first grader has told you all about it!

Station 6: Eat Like An Astronaut. Our little astronauts enjoyed astronaut lasagna, ice cream, and fruit - all freeze dried to give them a little taste of what it would be like to eat in outer space! Purchasing freeze dried food carries an *astronomical* price tag, and so we were excited to use our Boo Gram money from our Halloween first grade fundraiser for this fun experience! THEY LOVED IT!!! Mrs. Quist and I were so shocked how many kids truly liked the lasagna. So, if you're looking for a night off of cooking dinner, hop on Amazon and grab yourself a bag of lasagna. Dinner will be made in the bag in 9 minutes! Voila!

We continued working on our 10 more/10 less math fluency with a fun Rocket Math game!

We hunted around the school for our solar system vocab words. When students found a hidden word, the wrote it down and spelled it correctly by looking at the vocab card!

Station 3 was all about designing constellations! After they designed their constellations, they even chose a name for it!

Several of our friends came dressed for fun today!

Mrs. Balcom taught our students all about the first moon landing! Students learned about the Apollo, and the famous astronauts on that mission. She read an article about the big event, watched a couple of videos of original footage, and also taught them the famous quote by Neil Armstrong.

We also made moons with craters!

Mrs. Bellaire makes the best astronaut meals!

We also watched how astronauts wash their hair in space! So cool!

We ended our day with the ultimate rocket launch! We had SO MUCH FUN!!!

First, we tried launching the rocket with just air inside the plastic bottle.

Womp. Womp. Womp. What a dud!

BUT THEN....we added water. Check it!

We talked about WHY the rocket worked much better with water in it. Was your child able to tell you all about it?

We even did a little moon yoga!

Looking forward to a great day tomorrow! Have a nice weekend, everyone!
