ABOUT MRS. POWELL

Hello, First Grade Families!

My name is Keri Powell, and I am your child’s first grade teacher! I am very excited to begin the 2017-2018 school year! I absolutely LOVE teaching, and am thrilled to be teaching first grade again---it’s going to be a wonderful year!

This year, we will work hard as we continue early childhood foundational skills in all areas of academic and social development. Be ready to be a part of a classroom community that cares about each other, develops great friendships, gets a little messy once in awhile, and learns through a lot of hands-on, and differentiated activities.

I strive to teach to all types of learners, paying careful attention to their abilities, interests/hobbies, and learning styles. I enjoy a high interest, highly engaged

atmosphere so that each child maximizes his/her fullest potential. In our classroom, everyone moves at their own pace---I work hard to meet your child at his/her level and abilities. You will notice that your child will move along as quick as they are ready for,

but we can also go as slow as we must.

Please join us for our OPEN HOUSE to meet me in person and see the classroom (our home away from home) on August 30, 5:30-7:30pm. I hope you

are enjoying your summer so far, and make the most out of the remainder of it! I will see you soon.

Please feel free to E-mail me if you have any questions before the start of school! The first day of school is Sept. 5th.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Powell

My Hobbies

When I'm not teaching, I like to attend my children's sporting events and cheer them on, travel, go to the beach/spend time on our boat, downhill ski in the winter, and dabble in a little bit of furniture restoration. I also like to read whenever I get a chance---on a long weekend or road trip, I definitely try to bury myself in a book until it's finished cover to cover!

My Family

My husband and our 3 children live in Cadillac, where our children are students here at CAPS. We have a 9th grader, and two 5th graders. We love our community and all that our beautiful city has to offer our family. My family is incredibly supportive of the time I devote to the classroom/teaching, and I couldn't teach your children without all of their help, support, and cooperation. They are very good at sharing me with all of you!
