Literary Analysis Projects

Hello 6th Graders & Families!

We wanted to take a moment to let you know what we've been up to in ELA, and fill you in on our end of the unit project. Please make sure that you have your project completed and turned in, as they are due today!

Recently, we have read the story, Scout's Honor, written by Avi. We have looked at theme, characterization, and different types of conflict within literature. Students have analyzed many different aspects of this story, with a focus on overall theme. Please read about the project guidelines below.

We have been working on this project for over a week, and final products are due TODAY! We have had some very busy creators that have chosen the format that they like best to demonstrate their learning. It's been fun to see them dive in and enjoy working on analyzing theme. We are excited to share final products with you later this week!

Here's our learning and creating in action!

Eliza is learning to blog through the Blogger platform in order to complete her theme analysis!

Some students are choosing to make posters to analyze theme, and we love seeing their creative abilities, coupled with literary analysis skills flourish in this way!

Isla and some other students have chosen to learn web-based infographic software (Piktochart) to create digital posters that demonstrate their knowledge of theme. They are so techy!!

Miss Dean enjoys supporting students to reach the standards and unit goals through their own style of learning! She is great at letting them take ownership of their learning and guide them toward success!

Malachi and a few others have chosen to write a traditional 5-paragraph literary analysis essay! WOW! This takes time and tons of writing stamina!

Additionally, several students have chosen to make cartoon panels and produce podcasts! We are so excited to see their final products roll in today! We will update this blog with finished products so you can enjoy and celebrate their hard work!! You can also ask your child to log into Schoology and show you their final product that should be posted in our Theme Project discussion board.

Tomorrow in class, students will take time to look at projects and provide constructive and positive feedback to their peers. The goal is always to meet the learning standard AND publish our work! Families are an integral part of viewing the published work, and celebrating student success, so please take the time to do this with your child! THANK YOU!

Parents: You can also help from home tonight by ensuring that your child has turned in their project. Ask them what they've been working on, and where they are at in regards to timeline completion. Many students did a great job sticking to the timeline that we gave them and used in-class time very wisely!

Check out a few featured final projects below! Don't see your child's? Ask them to log into Schoology and show you!!
