Hello, 2021!

Hello 6th Graders & Families!

I am so excited to welcome you back on Monday, Jan. 4th 2021! I am pleased that we can continue to show up in person to teach, learn, and grow in the new year! Let's hope we can remain that way throughout rest of the school year. I can't wait to see everyone again!

We have some important updates, so please read on:

In our classroom, we are welcoming our student teacher, Macey Dean. Miss Dean is coming to us from Ferris State University, where she will be obtaining her education degree in preparation for the wonderful world of teaching. She will be certified to teach Integrated Science and English Language Arts K-8. We are thrilled to get to know Miss Dean and welcome her into our classroom until the end of April 2021, in partnership with Mrs. Powell. Your 6th graders are lucky to have two teachers for the next few months! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

Here are the links to order your child's "This Is Us" project from the beginning of the school year when we embarked on our writing journey as middle school authors. FINALLY! I know it is LONG overdue, but hybrid teaching was very time consuming in the early months of school. With students in person, and learning from home, my teacher workload fluctuated and grew immensely. I appreciate your patience, and I hope you still share the same enthusiasm I do for your child's writings when they were brand new 6th graders.

The written words have been entered into the book exactly how your child has written them. They may even see some typos and mistakes that they wish they would have caught during the publishing process. That's ok! It is all part of the learning process and becoming more aware of our abilities as writers. It's how we evolve as writers.
