Classwork Responsibilities
Hello 6th Grade Families!
Today, we held our weekly 30-second conference in ELA. This is a quick individual conference every Monday that allows Mrs. Powell and each student to check in on their progress. Together, we go over their current overall grade, missing assignments, and behavior in class. We talk about what they are doing well, and make a plan for those that need to improve something.
Students who are missing work have three opportunities during the school day to complete the work: library before school (opens at 7am), working lunch (eat and work), or by appointment after school with pre-arranged transportation for pick up at 3:30pm. This helps alleviate homework and forgetting things at home. If a student is missing work, part of our conference time is used to make a plan for completion. See the example below.
It is extremely important for students to stay organized and accountable for their work and education. Please be sure to check parent portal, talk to your child, look at their planner, or ask them for their Monday print-outs from ELA. There are so many ways to help your child stay on the right track!
MANY stamps were given out today for students who are working toward earning a whole school activity and ice cream party as a reward for work completion and excellent behavior at school. We are off to a really great start!
Have a wonderful evening! Enjoy the sunshine and warm temps!!
